That awkward time when you forget to post… - #CA2012

Yeah… That pub crawl was awesome. Besides the fact that I because an honorary Irishman, I think I had 7 drinks in a total of 3 bars. I remember that I left around 2-2:30am to head back to the hostel. Got back and passed out.

I (for whatever reason) woke up at 8:30 and was still feeling the effects of the previous night. Apparently I missed some fun action after I left because the remainder of the pub crawl ended up at the CN Tower at 5 AM “fighting dragons”.

No I don’t know what that meant…

Apparently a couple of the other crawlers thought that it would be a good idea and get me some water. According to them I shotgunned it.

I do not recall this… Others do… Good times!

Turns out that Monday was the Chinese New Year, meaning it was a perfect excuse to go to Chinatown. Walked around and got sesame balls and saw a guy with no arms and no legs playing an electric piano… (I am sure there is a joke here somewhere)

I was going to take a tour of the Air Canada Centre before I went to the taping of George Stroumbolopous Tonight, however the timing was not in the cards and would have been late to the taping if I decided to go. Oh well, something to do next time.

Got in line for the taping armed with two DVD copies of Score: A Hockey Musical and a sharpie hoping to get George to sign. After we were let in they began to warm up the crowd asking if anyone came from out of town. Obviously I had to raise my hand. We talked for a few and then it was time for the taping.

Great show and the guests were great to listen to. [Note to self: Get the info for the genetic mapping kit] I got to talk to George after and get both DVD’s signed. One was for a friend and George trolled her with adding the “Go Habs Go” after hearing she was from Boston.

That night I had two options. Head to Real Sports and watch the Wings game, or stay at the hostel and play poker. Playing poker won out. I was doing well to start off in the first game, until I was calling things that I should, but was beat out on three-of-a-kinds multiple times.

Both games ended up this way, but it was a good way to end the evening. Well I say end the evening because I thought that since I had a train at 9:25am that I would have gone to bed at a reasonable hour….

Nope.

Ended up getting into a conversation with a girl named Samantha and we talk from 11:30 to oh I want to say 4am. Nice to run into another Buffy/Joss/DoctorWho/etc. geek. We had so much in common, it was great and made that night just that much more awesome.

So much for that sleep I was planning on getting, but hey, it happens. As I was cleaning up and get ready to go up to my room, I ran into Tegan from the pub crawl the night before and we sat and talked for a good hour and a half. I did not end up in bed until 5:45am. Oh well I can sleep on the train.

I finally get to my room and crash for a couple hours, get up and pack. Grabbed a breakfast at the hostel, which I still think is one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Then made my way out to the train station.

On my way there I saw multiple filming locations for the TV show “The Firm”. I grabbed a few pics got on the train and then passed out while on the way to Montreal…

Cutting this up into separate posts to make it easier to read, so the Montreal leg of the journey will be the next post.

Nothing Like Getting Lost In Toronto #CA2012

The first thing on my list of things to do was to find some food and I found this neat little diner a few blocks from the hostel. It was this nice little hole in the wall diner. Everything was fresh and very flavorful.

I had the California Club with fries and a fresh lemonade. Photos will be posted later, but this was a place was just what I was looking for when traveling. Something I cannot get at home and unique to Toronto.

After lunch I walked around a bit and ended up going to search for a copy of “Score: A Hockey Musical” After searching Futureshop and finding none in the area, I went HMV. They lead me to another location that had 2 copies for $3.00 each.

SCORE! #PUNINTENDED

I picked them up both with the plan to try to have @Strombo autograph them when I am at the taping of his show tomorrow and then send one of them to my friend in Boston.

After roaming the Eaton Centre and The Bay I ended up out near Toronto City Hall and not really knowing which way I had to head back. I ended up making it back to the hostel and grabbed dinner at the restaurant in the hostel. That shepherd’s pie was delicious.

Needless to say, I am eating well and not following my diet this week. Now to get ready for the pub crawl
